Reference book on document security

Security features are not a secret — they are meant to work.

Security features in identity documents do not exist to remain secret. They exist to work. And they can only work when those who inspect documents know they exist, understand how they function, and can tell originals and forgeries apart.

Buchcover Dokumentensicherheit

A passport is not secure because it has security features — it is secure because those features can be recognised, understood and verified."

That is exactly why we wrote this reference book: to help professionals, investigation authorities and inspection bodies correctly identify security features, understand how they function and reliably detect manipulations.

Knowledge of security features does not create misuse — it prevents it.
